Our Client:

Our client is a privately owned Freight Forwarding and Logistics company that boasts a global network of offices/partners covering nearly 200 countries across the world. They have had an established presence in SEA for over 30 years & provide flexible tailor-made global supply chain management and logistics solutions for clients in key vertical markets including FMCG/Food & Beverage/Oil & Gas/Furniture/Textiles/Retail customers in the Region.

As part of their regional growth strategy, we are currently working with them to recruit a Business Development Manager for their Singapore business, (this role will also have a remit for their Batam office also). With a background in selling Freight Forwarding (Ocean & Air)/Customs Clearance/Cross Border Trucking/Customs Clearance/Warehousing & Logistics services you will be able to develop & execute sales strategies to increase revenues & expand service offering to target markets.

Reporting to the MD in Singapore you will assume responsibility for the management of all sales activities & you'll be expected to help plan the sales strategy for the Singapore office, including targets, budget and establishing resources required to deliver your strategy & ensure best practice processes, (including reviewing/linking sales source, market trends, cost allocation and company's capabilities).

The Key Deliverables:

* Working with the MD in developing and implementing the company sales strategy for Singapore & Batam offices
* Develop & implement specific strategies to support the company's growth targets
* Increase the sales revenue and profits of the Singapore operation

The Responsibilities:

* Develop a strategic sales plan to optimize company's capabilities & resources, attracting new opportunities and retaining current customers and finally target for generating profit and meeting the sales budget for the company
* Review and monitor actual sales performance versus budget
* Create a plan for the development of both transaction and long-term customer in Singapore
* Identify key markets to prioritize & execute strategy to increase market share in these key sectors
* Active involvement into the sales strategy by developing strong relationships with customers based in Singapore
* Create own target account list, conduce direct sales calls to those target accounts and generate business from them
* Continuously collect market information, possibilities, and opportunities as well as potential risk or changes in the market environment
* Takes personal care of the development of defined key accounts of the group
* Visit local customers regularly and develops business with locally based or international shippers or consignees

The Requirements:

Business

* Experience in relevant Freight Forwarding/Ocean Freight/Air Freight/General Freight/Contract Logistics Industry
* Commercially focused & result-orientated
* Strong analytical skills and sensible to market trends
* Must have strong background in Sales/Business Development, able to approach new customers to win business

Technical

* Strategic thinking and strong networking abilities
* Knowledge of global freight-forwarding operations and markets
* Strong selling & presentation skills and have solid experience in working in a diverse cultural environment
* Demonstrated critical thinking, using logic and reasoning to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and risks, and identifying alternative solutions or approaches
* Good negotiation skills to close contracts with customers
