Job Description

Our Client:

Our client is a global company providing warehousing and freight forwarding solutions, as well as complete supply chain management services that are tailored to meet individual client requirements.

They operate in 25 countries and specializes in handling a variety of commodities, including metals, consumer goods, oil, and gas, and more. Their services cover all aspects of the supply chain, from production to consumption. They are actively looking to hire a Chartering Manager to join their team in Singapore.

The Responsibilities:

* Nurture existing client relationships and acquire new accounts to drive growth across a wide geographic area
* Promote the company's chartering services to internal and external customers
* Create a 6-12-month plan to further enhance the chartering service offering
* Negotiate favorable rates and terms for the company while chartering vessels
* Oversee all operational aspects of chartered vessels
* Foster relationships with brokers and operators
* Collaborate with various stakeholders, such as brokers, charterers, and port terminals, to ensure smooth shipment processes
* Strengthen working relationships with internal teams
* Resolve any issues or disputes related to chartered vessels
* Stay informed of market changes and opportunities by gathering insights from sources and stakeholders
* Drive revenue, control expenses, increase efficiency, and motivate team members to achieve profitability
* Provide bi-weekly activity reports

The Requirements:

* Degree in Maritime or equivalent, with at least 5 years of experience in Bulk Shipping Industry, handling a variety of cargo types, including metals, minerals, project cargo, agriculture, etc.
* In-depth understanding of shipping terms and an attention to detail in negotiations
* Strong negotiation skills, leadership abilities, excellent communication, and organizational skills
* Ability to work independently, efficiently, and effectively under pressure
* Skilled in time management, networking, problem-solving, and resourcefulness
* Self-motivated with a strong drive to develop new business and manage their own cargo book/period vessels
* Possess a commercial and entrepreneurial mindset
* Flexible to work with partners from different time zones as required
* Given the nature of the role, it is an advantage if the candidate is multilingual, particularly in Chinese to be able to communicate effectively with native Mandarin-speaking counterparts
