Our Client:

Our client manufactures high-precision measuring and surveying equipment. They are known for their commitment to precision and accuracy, and their products are widely used in applications that require precise measurements, such as construction site layout, machine control, and land surveying. They also have a strong reputation for innovation, and are constantly developing new technologies, as such, they are looking for a Senior R&D Mechanical Engineer to join their team in Singapore.

The Responsibilities:

* Design of mechanical parts for surveying & engineering instruments & sensors
* Work on all the product phases (design, development, testing of prototypes, manufacturing & implementation)
* Involve in new design concepts, design of unique components, related assemblies (e.g. with materials like thermoplastics, metals, rubber etc.) & to support product life cycle activities in these design related areas
* Collaborate with internal teams (e.g. production engineering, procurement, quality management & production planning) & with external EMS/technology partners
* Work with a multi-functional & international-oriented global development teams using a structured product design & development methodology
* Develop test methodologies to evaluate design concepts & produce relevant documentation like black/white box testing
* Designing sub-systems & unique components that meet project requirements
* Overseas short- & long-term travels are required

The Requirements:

* Bachelor's Degree or Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
* Minimum 5 years of product design experience in related field
* Knowledge in 2K molding and sheet metal design is a must
* Knowledge of best practices in a wide application of detailed drafting (GD&T), 1D/2D tolerance loops analysis, 2D/3D CAD creation & CAD data analysis
* Ability to read & to interpret engineering data, scientific journals, technical procedures, international test standards & type approval specifications
* Working experience with product lifecycle management tools (e.g. PLM Teamcenter or similar)
* Demonstrates excellent verbal & written communication skills (technical & social) in English is a must to be able to liaise effectively with English-speaking stakeholders
* Manual skills: ability to operate light tools & in customized test equipment
* Knowledge in EMC shielding (use of metallic foil, conductive coating, gasket, etc.), water and dust ingress (IP) sealing
* Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
