Our Client:

Our client is a global manufacturer of adhesive bonding, sealing solutions and acoustic management solutions. Their products are used in various industries such as Automotive, Aerospace, Electronics and Renewable Energy. They are seeking to hire a Senior R&D Chemist for their team in Singapore.

With a strong background in adhesives and sealants, you will be working for a company that is at the forefront of bonding technology and can provide you with opportunities to collaborate with colleagues in China/Europe and manage a small R&D team in Singapore. The salary will be commensurate with background & experience plus a generous profit-sharing variable bonus (typically paying 4-5 months+ p/a).

The Responsibilities:

* Lead the development of new adhesive and sealant materials across automotive, aerospace, rail, and construction markets
* Conduct necessary tests to advance the development of adhesives and sealants
* Oversee scale-up trials, transitioning R&D prototypes to manufacturing
* Collaborate on product development, facilitating the transfer of R&D innovations to the market
* Collaborate with internal and external customers to comprehend requirements and specifications for new developments
* Support Quality by applying a science-based approach to problem-solving
* Proactively identify and pursue new developments to address unmet customer and market needs
* Lead material validation activities at customer sites
* Maintain detailed laboratory notebook records
* Contribute to the generation of intellectual property when appropriate
* Undertake additional tasks as assigned by a supervisor

The Requirements:

* Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, or Polymer Science
* Strong background in adhesives and sealants
* Minimum of 5 years of experience with a proven track record
* Previous work experience in a laboratory or technical field is highly desired
* Experience with rheology using parallel plate rheometer is beneficial
* Experience with mechanical testing (tensile, shear, and compression testing) is highly desired
* Experience with titration techniques is beneficial
* Knowledge of thermos-analysis techniques such as DSC, TGA, and TMA is beneficial
* Knowledge of FTIR is useful
* Capable of working independently
* Fluent in both written and oral English to be able to liaise effectively with English-speaking stakeholders
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Pragmatic approach to identifying and addressing opportunities and challenges
