Mechanical Engineer (Plant Maintenance | Jurong Island)

Job Description

Our Client:

An MNC Petrochemical Manufacturing Company.

The Role:

Provide mechanical engineering support to maintenance and operations in day to day equipment troubleshooting and problem solving to ensure assigned location can continue to operate efficiently.

The Responsibilities:

* Proactively provide equipment repair/replace recommendations in support of the company's mechanical integrity initiatives. Develop capital project programs for new equipment and major repairs
* Conduct engineering studies as needed, including written reports and recommendations Confer with engineers, operations, and others as needed to discuss existing or potential engineering projects and/or equipment troubleshooting
* Responsible for safety and Process Safety Management (PSM) considerations, retention of ISO and OHSAS certification, Quality Improvement Process participation, housekeeping, and work relationships with others
* Design and improve mechanical systems, equipment and facilities to improve safety and or to improve equipment reliability
* Provide technical leadership and oversight to support capital projects and ongoing maintenance and operations activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and customer requirements
* Develop and improve new and existing engineering standards and procedures
* Ensure all maintenance tasks are completed on time, within budget, safely, and satisfactory to operations. Inspect completed works and observe operations. Ensure conformance to design/equipment specifications and compliance with operational/safety standards
* Prepare equipment specifications for purchase of materials and equipment
* Support maintenance manager in developing budgets, estimating labor, material, and maintenance costs
* Able to operate the computerized maintenance management system at an expert user level
* Investigate and qualify equipment vendors in support of the procurement policy
* When applicable, Provide leadership and mentoring to a team of technicians and junior engineers
* When applicable, develop departmental objectives and KPIs
* Take ownership of all plant engineering documentation and maintenance records related to mechanical discipline
* Ensure all plant equipment and facilities are inspected and maintained according to statutory requirements
* Participate and drive global initiatives in the plant

The Requirements:

* Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering
* Expert level knowledge and understanding of the application of mechanical engineering principles in the Chemical/Manufacturing environment, demonstrated leadership and business acumen typically acquired through more than 5 years of experience in roles of increasing responsibility
* Good working knowledge of ASME/API Codes
* Familiarity with NDE methods and Mechanical Integrity Programs
* Good working knowledge of vibration analysis techniques.
* Effective leadership skills and the ability to work productively in a cross functional team environment
* Influencing, negotiating and diplomacy skills
* Strong analytical skills
* Ability to effectively solve problems and resolve conflicts
* Organizational skills and is able to prioritize work, develop appropriate time lines and work to deadlines
* Effective oral and written communication skills
